Personally I’ve been using MXit for almost 5 years and it has become more than just a teen communication tool but an Innovation that’s having a positive impact on society. MXit (pronounced “Mix It”) is described to be a free Instant Messaging application that runs on GPRS/3G mobile phones as well as PCs. This application has changed the communication landscape in South Africa and rapidly MXit Lifestyle is building a strong user-base in 120 countries worldwide. With this indication of growth and already establishing itself as a strong brand in South Africa, I would like to share THREE of the many ways MXit has impacted positively on Society:

Although they have large number of users, MXit still come accross as a personal community that local users (MXit family) can relate to.

3) Opening their platform to be used by 3rd Party organisations for Social Good. Over the last few years we’ve had the privilege of using the MXit platform as a tool to reach thousands of people all over South Africa in dealing with various social issues. However, MXit not only supported us (“special thanks to Laura and Munier”) as a tool but came on board as a partner to see how best we can make a change in the lives of Millions of people not just in South Africa but also globally.
